Brownwood ISD wants to prepare students to enter the local workforce and is asking for public input. The Texas Education Agency (TEA) has released a list of industry certifications it will recognize under its new system. Brownwood ISD wants to determine how the list aligns with the needs of Brownwood employers. Brownwood ISD will align the programs they offer, as much as possible, with the needs of the community, but would also like to ensure the State recognizes those efforts and doesn’t penalize Brownwood ISD. Brownwood ISD has the opportunity to petition TEA for additions during February, so is asking for your valuable input to determine what additions need to be requested, so that they can attempt to meet the needs of local employers. In order to gain your input, provide additional information, and answer your questions, the Brownwood ISD has scheduled meetings to be held at at three different times on Thursday, February 23. Feel free to bring others with you that have expertise in specialized areas that are already on the list, or that you would like to see added to the industry certification list. The meetings will be:
8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. – Breakfast
11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. – Lunch
3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. – Afternoon
All of the meetings will be held at the Brownwood ISD Administration Offices at 2707 Southside Drive. Since food and drinks will be provided at each session, district officials are asking you respond so they will know which session you plan on attending. You can respond by contacting Karen Dempsey at 643-5644 or by e-mail at karen.dempsey@brownwoodisd.org
