As reported Friday afternoon, an 18 year old Brownwood man was charged with capital murder in connection with the death of his infant daughter. According to information released by the Brownwood Police Department, officers were dispatched to Brownwood Regional December 13th regarding a female infant who was not breathing.
The infant was pronounced deceased at 4:12 p.m. An autopsy was conducted by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office in Fort Worth. After an investigation involving several agencies, a Brown County Grand Jury returned an indictment against 18 year old Jekaris Lee Bryant for the offense of capital murder. Family members have released the following statement: “The family is obviously grieving. We would appreciate the public respecting our privacy. The facts have not been disclosed and until the facts are disclosed, we ask that no one form any premature opinions or judgments. The only thing our family is focused upon is the loss of our precious child.”
Bryant was booked, without incident, into the Brown County Jail with a $500,000 bond.
