EPD reminding residents it is illegal to shoot fireworks inside city limits

FROM THE OFFICE OF EARLY POLICE CHIEF DAVID MERCER: The week of July 4th is upon us and while everyone is excited to get out and enjoy the holiday, everyone needs to remember there are extreme fire danger conditions in the area. My department would like to remind the community that it is a violation of city ordinance to discharge fireworks within the city limits of Early. Doing so could result in a fine of up to $500. Officers will be strictly enforcing this violation for the safety of everyone. The smallest spark can create a serious situation for many people. Causing the loss of someone’s home with fireworks is a burden that no one wants to endure.

The EPD wants everyone to enjoy the holidays safely, and would like to encourage the public to attend the public fireworks shows in the county, which is done safely and professionally.
