Patricia “Pat” Hicks

Funeral services for Patricia “Pat” Hicks, 73, of Brownwood, will be July 1 at 3 p.m. at Heartland Funeral Home with Chaplain Dan Chapman officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park. A visitation will be June 30 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Pat went to meet her heavenly father June 27, peacefully with family by her side at Care Inc. in Early.

Patricia was born in Chicago, Illinois to Earl and Helen Ferguson on July 15, 1944 and married the love of her life, Jimmy Hicks on November 4, 1972 in Tucson, Arizona. She worked at Wal-Mart in Brownwood since the opening of the super center and remained for nearly 20 years before retiring in July 2013. Pat was a proud and devoted member of the Lake Brownwood Lions Club for approximately 10 years, but her proudest life accomplishments were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Patricia is survived by her devoted husband Jimmy of Brownwood; daughter, Angela Walker and husband Derrick of Bangs; son, Jimmy Hicks II and wife Becky of Early; step-son Carl Hicks and wife Darlene; step-daughter Susie Pennington and husband Howard of Ave, Missouri; granddaughters Samantha Hicks, Destiny Walker, Elizabeth Pennington, Ashley Montezuma, Amy Hicks and Amanda Meija; gradsons A1C Jimmy Hicks III, Jonathan Miranda, Christopher Fretwell, Dylan Hicks, Luke Hicks, Robert Daniels and their spouses; two great grandchildren, William Pennington and Jackson Daniels; and sister Pamela Hernandez of California. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Early Ferguson and Helen Ferguson Kastner; step-father Grant Kastner; brother, Jerry Lee Ferguson; Anita Sargent and grandson Joseph Hicks.

The family would like to thank the staff at Care Inc. of Early, Brownwood Regional Medical Center, and a special thank you to friends Gail Smiley and Margaret Covey for the help in caring for Pat.
