Forest Service Reports Mays Fire 60% Contained

As of 8:00 am Wednesday, the Mays Fire in San Saba and McCulloch counties was 60% contained with a burn area of 9,500 acres, according to the Texas A&M Forest Service.  The map of the burn area is attached to this story which lists the fire as being 11 miles east of Brady.

Correction to previous information: The fire did not start on Camp Billy Gibbons.  It started about a mile west of the camp and moved west.  The camp has not been affected and no scouts were in camp when the fire started.  The Camp Ranger has opened camp facilities for the use of firefighters.
