Carolyn D. Leonard was born on July 19, 1952 to the union of the late Booker T. Leonard Sr. and Josie M. Evans – Leonard of Quitman Clay, Louisiana.

Carolyn attended L.G. Pinkston High School in Dallas, Texas and graduated in 1970.

She met her best friend Kester L. Barrie (d. 2018) whom she loved dearly and between the two, God blessed them with a baby girl. (Caroll R. Leonard)

Carolyn accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and attended, Greater Faith Community Church. Then under the leadership of Bishop Aaron C. Blake, now with Senior Pastor Charles Lowe. For over 35 years, Carolyn was a faithful member, dedicated to fellowship and passionate about serving with her love for cooking. She cooked for the women’s ministry, church anniversaries and every conference that was held at the church. She even adored cooking for the smallest precious souls of the church, at the Small World Daycare Center.

Carolyn D. Leonard was a caring, loving, devoted giver, who possessed many talents and skills. She worked at Brownwood Manufacturing as a seamstress and Phillip Driscoll Pipes for many years. Then God brought her back to her love of being a caregiver. She worked at Texas Youth Commission where she later retired after 25 years. During her retirement, Carolyn continued working with (MHMR), Mental Health Mental Retardation services, as a caregiver, supporting and ministering to her clients and anyone that she touched.

She was excited to help, cook and feed anyone that crossed her path. She was an avid reader and enjoyed reading the newspaper, books and magazines. Her other favorite hobby was spending time with family and planning trips and staycations to Six Flags….one of her favorites! She was the glue to the family and always rallied around to cover and shower them with unmeasurable love and strength. Her kindness and thoughtfulness blessed so many people just like her smile.

God called Carolyn D. Leonard on Tuesday January 26, 2021. He saw a beautiful rose and decided to pick it. For he knew that she was getting tired and withering away, so he put his arms around her and whispered, “Come Home with Me”! With tearful eyes, we watched you suffer and saw you begin to fade away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating; A determined peaceful spirit was at rest. God broke all our hearts that day to prove to us, He only takes the best.
