Good Samaritan Ministries Receives Contribution from United Supermarket

United Supermarket on Wednesday made a donation of $1,871.55 to Good Samaritan Ministries through its Scan Tag promotion, which replaced the Super Bowl of Caring this year.

“Instead of doing the Super Bowl of Caring we just raised money through the registers,” said United Store Director Lynn Day. “When they checked out, the good citizens of Brownwood are so giving every year and they donated toward Good Samaritan.”

GSM Executive Director was surprised upon learning of United’s donation this year.

“We were so delighted when we learned in March that United had done this program for us in place of the Super Bowl of Caring,” Stephens said. “We didn’t know until they called us.”

Stephens also thanked United and those who shop at United for the contribution.

“The amount is phenomenal and what that does is it shows everybody in Brown County that shopped at United had a part in fighting hunger in this area,” Stephens said. “It was as simple as buying your groceries and saying yes I want to contribute to Good Samaritan. Thank you not only to United but to everyone in Brown County who shopped.”
