Michael Glenn Hamilton, 66, of Brownwood, passed away Friday, July 16, 2021. The Visitation with family will be from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Friday, July 23, 2021 at Heartland funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, July 24, 2021 in the Heartland funeral Home Chapel with Interment following at Eastlawn Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Darwin Enicks officiating.
Mike was born October 31, 1954 in Dallas, Texas to Clarence Herbert Sr. and Dorris Jean Hamilton. He graduated O.D. Wyatt high school and joined the US Army. After service to his country, Mike went to Bethany Bible College in Bethany, Oklahoma where he received his degree in Biblical Studies. Mike married Vickie Jo Claburn and together they united two families that blessed them with 7 children and 11 grandchildren. Mike was a very loving, devoted man of God. Jesus came first in his life, his family, children and grandchildren were a very close second. Mike worked as a pastor most of his life and was currently an ordained elder, Sunday school superintendent at the 1st Church of the Nazarene in Brownwood, Texas. He spent his days in worship, spreading the word and love of Jesus to all that would listen. Mike also devoted a lot of his time to the stewardship of his family. He was always just a phone call away, no matter what you needed. Mike made his family feel peace, joy, love and security. He was a prayer warrior, his children and congregation knew they could call on Mike and he would help anyway he could, always willing to pray over the phone or come to you and share words of advice and wisdom.
Mike is survived by his beloved wife, Vickie Jo Hamilton of Brownwood; daughters, JaNell Mae Vannoy and Meagan Chelsea Moore of Brownwood; sons, Michael Adam Hamilton and wife Taira of Brookings, Oregon, Mitchell Aaron Hamilton and wife Melissa of Wildwood, Florida, Marcus Andrew Hamilton and wife Amber of Umatilla, Florida, Bubba Thomas Vannoy of Brownwood, Jack Wayne Carter and wife Gracye of Brownwood; sister, Janie Pruitt and husband Burl of Winnsboro; brothers, Clarence Herbert Hamilton Jr. of Brownwood & Rickie Joe Collins and wife Leatha and Sammy of Brownwood; aunt Judy bishop of Midlothian; grandchildren, Elliot, Liam, Eden, Leyia, Luke, Cobie, Jordaan, Christian, Avery, Miguel, and Benjamen; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and beloved church family and friends.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Herbert Hamilton Sr. & Dorris Jean Measle, sisters, Vickie Jean Overton and Virginia Lee Hernandez.
