County COVID Cases Decrease This Week, 2 Deaths

In the last seven days, the Brownwood/Brown County Health Department received 253 positive COVID-19 test results.  That is the first decrease in weekly cases since the August 20, 2021 report.  The number of cases last week was 378.  (see graph)  There are currently 411 active cases in Brown County.  The percentage of county population now full vaccinated has increased to 39.08%.

Of the 253 positives this week, 99 were PCR, and 154 were antigen.

There are 21 people currently hospitalized in Brown County for COVID-19.

Two new deaths have been reported: One female in her 70s and one male in his 80s, neither were from nursing facilities.

Hendrick Medical Center Brownwood is operating a COVID-19 screening clinic with no cost testing. Individuals should text “covidhelp” to 325-216-4824 to utilize this service.

COVID-19 Vaccinations for Brown County:

  • People with at least one dose – 14,754 (244 additional)
  • People fully vaccinated – 12,856 (652 additional)
  • Percentage of people 12+ fully vaccinated – 39.08%

30,883 is the estimated number of Brown County residents eligible for vaccination. The Brownwood-Brown County Health Department is offering free COVID-19 vaccinations to all youth ages 12 years or older and adults age 18 years old or older.
