At 11:59 am Sunday, October 31, the Early Fire Department was dispatched to 2970 County Road 381 (Old May Road) to a structure fire.  According to Early Fire Chief Chad Hill, heavy smoke was visible as firefighters responded.  Early Fire requested Brownwood Fire and Zephyr Volunteer Fire Department for mutual aid.  The first unit from Early arrived to find a double wide home with heavy fire coming from the roof.  Early and Brownwood units did a quick interior attack, knocked the fire down and followed up with a search and got an all clear.  The lone occupant and his pet had already made it out safely before fire units arrived.  The house was a total loss and Red Cross was contacted to assist the occupant.  The fire is under investigation by City of Early Fire Marshal Seth Ringler.  There were no injures reported.  Responding to the call were Early, Brownwood and Zephyr fire departments, Lifeguard EMS, Brown County Sheriff’s Department and Red Cross.
