David Dewayne Phillips, 73, of Early, Texas passed away, Friday, May 6, 2022.

A Celebration of Life service will be held 10:00 AM, Wednesday, May 11, 2022 in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Lew Sharp officiating.

David was born November 16, 1948 in Corpus Christi to Oscar and Bernice Phillips.  He attended Del Mar College where he received a degree in Electrical Engineering.  In 1973 he married Crystal Laureen Loudermilk and they began a life together that blessed them with 2 sons.  David was very involved in different Ministries through the years and was always taking time to help people in their lives along the way.  Through his years in ministry and time at 3M, Dave was able to make many close relationships with church family and co workers that became extended family to him and his children.  David worked many years for 3M and retired with 3M.  He loved his retirement, between the times he and wife were exploring the U.S. in their camper and the time he spent with family, especially his grandkids, he was always a busy man.  He loved to fish, but he wasn’t very good.  He loved to golf, but he wasn’t very good at that either.  He was the greatest at being the best father, PawPaw, uncle, cousin and friend that anyone could wish for.

David is survived by his sons, David Lee Phillips and wife, Melissa of Early and Jeff and wife, Melissa of Brownwood; brother, Steve Phillips and wife Penny of Corpus Christi; sister-in-law, Ray Phillips of Corpus Christi; Grandkids, Collin Phillips and wife Katlin of Omaha, NE, Gwen Phillips, Zoe Phillips, Ivan Phillips and Trevor Phillips; great granddaughter, Rylee Phillips; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

David was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Crystal Phillips; parents, Oscar and Bernice Phillips; and a brother, Gary Phillips.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Kenley School in Abilene in David’s name at http://kenleyschool.org/support.html
