Daniel Smith McCombs, age 85 of Brownwood passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2022.
His family will host a visitation on Sunday, August 14th from 6 to 8 pm at Heartland Funeral Home in Early.
Funeral Service will be Monday, August 15th in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel at 10 am with interment to follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park in Early, under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home with Military Honors.
Daniel was born on Monday, May 31, 1937 in Derry Township, PA to John Ellsworth McCombs and Helen Valentine Smith. In 1957 he married Ruth Marie Gibson and was married for 47 years until she passed in 2004. Dan then married Lottie Elaine Reed on July 9, 2006.
Dan enlisted into the United States Air force receiving the Air Force Good Conduct Medal, worked for FDSI, Honeywell, and retired from Amaco Oil. He later enjoyed being the Owner/Operator of Lake Haven Marina for 7 years, and worked at Wal-Mart some during his retirement years. He was a member of the Freedom Fellowship Church in Early and loved singing in Christian fellowship. Dan enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved to watch his children and grandchildren play and perform at school events and recitals.
Dan is survived by his wife Lottie McCombs of 16 years; children, Cynthia Hoff and husband Tim of Arizona, Danetta McCombs and husband Paul Bryant of Blanket, Daniel Allan McCombs of Brownwood, David McCombs of Tampa, FL; Jonathan McCombs and wife Heather of Odessa, Tammie Stalworth of Brownwood, Theresa Elliott of Waco, Delphia Rena Craft and husband Anthony of Stanley, NC, Catherine Michelle Dickey of Brownwood and Rebecca (Becky) Smith and husband Rafe of Brownwood; sister Sally Rodgers of Erie, PA; 24 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Helen McCombs; wife Ruth Gibson McCombs; brother, John McCombs; sisters, Judy Roberts, Susan Rogers and Ilene McCombs.
