Ottis Monroe Lee, 91, of Brownwood

Ottis Monroe Lee, 91, of Brownwood, Texas passed away peacefully in his sleep Tuesday, December 20, 2022 after a lengthy battle with health complications.

Ottis was born on January 22, 1931 in Ballinger, Texas to his parents, Olan and Onis Lee. He lived most of his childhood in the Rising Star area. He joined the army in 1950 and was stationed in Nevada during the days of nuclear bomb testing. He had some stories to tell about Nevada. Later, in his service to our nation, he was a driver in the Korean War.

In 1960, Ottis married the love of his life, Virginia Townsend, also from Rising Star. He and Virginia made Brownwood their permanent home in 1970. He ran service stations for over 50 years. In 1962, they were blessed with a beautiful daughter, Frankie. Ottis was a devout member of Austin Avenue Church of Christ.

Ottis is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Virginia; brothers Charles, Jimmy, Billy; and sisters Onita and Nelda. He is survived by his daughter Frankie Lee of Brownwood and several nieces and nephews.

There will be a graveside ceremony for Ottis will be held at Wayside Cemetery in Eastland County at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2022.
