basketball-2-2

The Brownwood Lady Lions clinched a playoff berth Friday night with a 39-29 victory against Mineral Wells at Warren Gym. The Lady Lions secured no worse than a third-place finish in the final District 6-4A girls basketball standings and their 13th postseason berth in 14 campaigns under head coach Heather Hohertz. The Lady Lions will head to Graham at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday then wrap up the regular season at home against Stephenville at 5:45 p.m. Friday.

In the boys game, the Lions throttled Mineral Wells 68-36, halting a two-game losing streak. With the victory Brownwood broke out of a four-way logjam behind district front-runner Glen Rose and currently sits in possession of the second playoff seed.
Entering Friday’s action, Glen Rose was alone in first place in the District 6-4A standings with a 4-0 league mark, while the other four teams – Brownwood, Mineral Wells, Graham and Stephenville – were all tied for second place at 1-2. The Lions travel to Graham at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday to start the second half of the 6-4A slate.
