The Brownwood Police Department released the following information concerning an arrest made on Tuesday, May 16.

On Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at approximately 7:40 pm, officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1800 block of Vincent Street regarding a report of a domestic (disturbance).  The caller was parked outside the residence and informed Communications that a white male was ‘bashing’ the caller’s vehicle with a rifle and pointing the rifle at him.

When officers arrived, they located the suspect male and identified him as Jasper Miranda, 43.   Miranda was detained as officers secured the scene and located the rifle which was confirmed to be a pellet gun.

The caller explained that he received a text message from a female friend who stated that she was going to tell her husband (Miranda) that she wanted a divorce, and she needed a ride.    The caller drove to the residence while attempting to contact the female but was only able to reach the male who cursed him and hung up the phone.

At the location, Miranda observed the caller and exited the residence with the pellet gun and pointed it at him multiple times and hit the pickup with the pellet gun out of anger.  The caller told officers that he was terrified and feared for his life.

Miranda explained that he was at work when he received a call from his wife who stated that she wanted a divorce and was leaving.  Miranda explained that he went home to talk about this problem when the caller (victim) arrived.

Given the totality of the circumstances, Miranda was charged with Aggravated Assault w/a Deadly Weapon and transported to the Brown County Jail without Incident.

According to online jail records, bond was set at $15,000.

(Those charged are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law)
