Structure fire in 1800 block of Waco

At 7:34 a.m. Friday, Feb. 9, the Brownwood Fire Department was called to 1812 Waco in Brownwood for a structure fire. Upon arrival, crews were presented with light smoke coming from the rear of the structure. Crews made entry through front door and were met with heavy black smoke. Smoke was generated from a small fire in the master bathroom. The fire building sustained heavy smoke damage, been determined uninhabitable and has been turned over to the owner to secure. The fire was unintentional in nature, with the origin being in the master bathroom, and cause is determined to have been discarded smoking materials.

Chief 92, Chief 93,Truck 9, Engine 9, Engine 92, Engine 93, and Brush 9 responded with assistance from Lifeguard EMS, Oncor, the Brownwood Police Department, and the Red Cross.

Crews were on the scene for 53 minutes and the fire was extinguished in 4 minutes. The fire caused an estimated $65,000 worth of damage.
