Susie Chambers Griffin, age 71, of Rising Star, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2024. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 PM on Tuesday, March 5, at Heartland Funeral Home in Early. Funeral services for Susie will be held at 2:00PM on Wednesday, March 6 in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Rising Star Cemetery.

Susie was born to Dewey and Mary Louise Chambers on July 26, 1952 in Rising Star. She graduated from Rising Star High School and 1970, and then attended Stephenville Beauty School and graduated in 1975. Susie was a beautician for over 40 years. She was a faithful member of New Life Church in Rising Star. Susie married the love of her life, David Griffin, on March 21, 1999 in Rising Star. She enjoyed dancing, gardening, music, games, and collecting junk.

Susie had a strong, unshakable faith. In fact, when she was first diagnosed with cancer, Misti asked her how she felt about it; Susie said with a smile, “I’m not afraid to die, so I just try not to worry about it.” She loved everyone and always had a smile on her face. Susie loved her animals; especially her dog Penny and cat Callie. You never knew when you would see her with a pet squirrel or coon. She also loved to be in her yard taking care of all her plants. Susie played basketball and ran track in high school. She went to state twice in the 440 yard dash. She loved basketball, but hated track; she said she cried before every track meet, but was just too stubborn to lose. She was a class favorite and Miss Rising Star for Chamber of Commerce. She was a majorette in Junior High School and Cheer Leader in High School.

Susie is survived by her husband, David Griffin; son, Shannon Joe Bailey; daughter, Misti Pope; step daughters, Kelly Runyon, and Robin Griffin; grandchildren, Joey, Dustin, Adrian, Tarynne, Garrett, Benjamin, Jack, Grayson, Kizer, and Drew; and great grandchildren, Everleigh and Evander; sisters, Terry Hampton, Mickie Chambers and Debbie Roberson. She is also survived by numerous other family members and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
