Lady Lions Win Stephenville Relays, Lions Place Fourth In Final District Tune-Up

STEPHENVILLE – The Brownwood Lady Lions finished first in the final team standings, and the Brownwood Lions came in fourth, at the Stephenville Optimist Relays Thursday, the final tune-up prior to next week’s District 6-4A meet.

The Lady Lions generated 119 points, easily outdistancing runner-up Abilene Cooper with 98.3 points.

The Lions produced 83 points, which left them behind Granbury (131), Stephenville (111), and Breckenridge (87).

The JV Lady Lions also won their division with 199 points, while the JV Lions placed fourth with 83 points.

The District 6-4A meet will take place Monday, April 1 and Thursday, April 4 in Mineral Wells.

Action begins at 10 a.m. Monday with the varsity boys long jump and varsity girls triple jump. The 3200-meter run begins at 11 a.m., while at 11:30 a.m. the varsity girls long jump and varsity boys triple jump take place. Running prelims, which begin at 3:30 p.m. Monday, include the 100-meter hurdles, 110-meter hurdles, 100 meters, 400 meters, 300-meter hurdles, and the 200 meters.

On Thursday, the action starts at 11 a.m. with the varsity boys discus, varsity girls shot put, and the high jump for both varsity girls and varsity boys followed at 1 p.m. by the varsity girls discus and varsity boys shot put.

Running finals start at 4 p.m. with the 4×100 relay followed by the 800 meters, 110/110-meter hurdles, 100 meters, 4×200 relay, 400 meters, 300-meter hurdles, 200 meters, 1600 meters and the 4×400 relay.
