Lions Tied For The Lead, Lady Lions 5 Points Out Of First After Opening Day Of 6-4A Track Meet

MINERAL WELLS – Through one day and four events at the District 6-4A track and field meet, the Brownwood Lions are tied for first place and the Brownwood Lady Lions are just five points off the pace following Monday’s action.

The Lions and Lady Lions have also combined for eight berths in the 5-4A/6-4A area meet already, which will take place Friday, April 12 at the Abilene ISD Annex Track by Shotwell Stadium. The top four finishers in each event advance.

Both the Lions and Stephenvile have amassed 41 points in the varsity boys division, as Ike Hall won both the triple jump (47-3.75) and the long jump (22-4.5)

Monday. Morsello Hooker finished second in both the triple jump (43-8) and the long jump (21-6.5). Bennett Windham came in fourth place in the 3200 meters (11:10.28) to advance, and Wyatt Wolf in the pole vault (11-0) added a point with a sixth-place effort.

On the varsity girls side, the Lady Lions have generated 26 points which leaves them behind Mineral Wells (31) and Stephenville (29.5). Kaya Phillips won the long jump (16-11.25) Monday while Lyndi Biasiolli placed second in the 3200 meters (13:14.92), Haylee Adkins came in third in the 3200 meters (13:23.57), and Icess Hall finished fifth in the triple jump (33-1.25).

The JV Lady Lions are currently in first place with 40 points, while the JV Lions are in fifth place with 5 points.

Action resumes Thursday at 11 a.m. with the varsity boys discus, varsity girls shot put, and the high jump for both varsity girls and varsity boys, followed at 1 p.m. by the varsity girls discus and varsity boys shot put.

Running finals start at 4 p.m. with the 4×100 relay followed by the 800 meters, 110/110-meter hurdles, 100 meters, 4×200 relay, 400 meters, 300-meter hurdles, 200 meters, 1600 meters and the 4×400 relay.
