Texas Department of Transportation’s Brownwood District recently hosted the “District Roadeo,” a competition of the district’s top commercial truck drivers. Darrell Greenwood, Special Jobs Coordinator was named this year’s Brownwood District Champion.

Greenwood and second place driver Brown County Maintenance Section Crew Chief Cody Stevens were such accurate drivers that they earned the exact same score. It took consideration of four tie breakers to name the champion.

The TxDOT Roadeo is a competition of seven driving events that evaluate skills of heavy equipment drivers while driving a 6-yard dump truck through stations that test driving accuracy through tight spaces, through tight turns, and backing up with a spotter, along with tests that show their knowledge of equipment, securing down equipment and maintenance of vehicles.

Greenwood and Stevens are two of the top 50 drivers from 25 districts across the state. The Brownwood District wish both the best as they compete this week at the State Roadeo in Austin.
