Opal Virginia Browder, age 90 passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2021 in Brownwood.

A memorial service will be held 10:30 am Saturday, January 23rd at First Christian Church, 2411 Coggin Ave. in Brownwood, with Pastor Sterling Lentz officiating.  Interment will follow at a later date.

Opal was born Tuesday, July 1, 1930, in Sterling County, Texas to Solomon and Viola King.  She married Robert G. Wallace Sr. on May 1, 1946 and began a life together that blessed them with 3 children.  She attended the Odessa Junior College where she became a Licensed Vocational Nurse.  Opal was a LVN for 45 years, scout leader, G. A. teacher and Sunday school teacher.  During her retirement years, Opal had numerous hobbies including rock painting, genealogy research, all sorts of crafts.  She enjoyed taking care of all her animals, loved taking vacations and playing bingo.

Opal is survived by her daughters, Nila Helt, Linda King and husband John and daughter-in-law Janice Wallace all of Zephyr; 8 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Robert Wallace Sr. and son Robert Wallace Jr.; son-in-law Jim Helt; her parents Solomon C. King and Viola King; 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

In Lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Corinne T. Animal Shelter, 3016 Milam Drive, Brownwood, Texas 76801.
