Debra Kay Whisenant Revay, age 67, passed away on Friday, August 4, 2023, at Hendrick Medical Center in Brownwood. Debra was a loving mother, grandmother, and dear friend. Debra loved her family and close friends and will be missed dearly.
Celebration of Life for Debra will be held at 10:00 am, on Friday, August 11, 2023, at the Blaylock Funeral Home Chapel with David Barnum officiating.
A private graveside service will be held at Eastlawn Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.
Debra was born to Lesley Fulcher Whisenant and Emma Gertrude “Trudy” (Brubaker) Whisenant on May 30, 1956, in Brownwood, where she spent her life and career. She graduated from Brownwood High School in 1974. Debra managed Comet Cleaners on Austin Avenue for many years before becoming a mother. She spent most of her working life as a correctional officer with the TDCJ at the Thomas R. Havins Unit in Brownwood where she retired in 2016 with over 20 years of service.
An avid quilter who loved to make quilts for her family and friends, Debra was also a member of the Brownwood Quilters Guild for many years. She took pride in her work and everything she did and is remembered for her strong work ethic and attention to detail.
Her greatest joy in life was being a mother and a grandmother. She was a great Mommy, Mimi, and Meemaw. Her memory will live on in all those who love her. Her diligent spirit, unwavering integrity, and love for family and friends will live on in those left behind.
Debra is survived by her daughters, Leslie Seaton and husband, Kevin of New Richmond, Wisconsin, and Chelsey Revay Skelton of McKinney, Texas; her grandchildren, Lily and Grant Seaton of New Richmond, Wisconsin; and her brother, Paul Whisenant of Brownwood.
She was preceded in death by her beloved mother and father.
