Blanket shows large increases in sales tax allocations

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts $695.2 million in local sales tax allocations for December, 10.8 percent more than in December 2016. These allocations are based on sales made in October by businesses that report tax monthly. Brownwood received an allocation this month of $411,287, compared to last year’s allocation for this same time period of $444,198. This is a 7.4% decrease. Year to date, Brownwood has received $5,090,065—a 25.79% decrease compared to last year at this time of $6,859,232.

Early received an allocation of $79,196—a 7.43% increase over this same time period last year of $73,716. However, year to date allocations for Early have seen a near 14% decrease. Year to date for 2017 is $1,073,805, compared to the same time period last year of $1,248,140.

Bangs received an allocation this month of $11,361 compared to last year’s allocation for this same time period of $10,307, a 10.22% increase. Year to date, Bangs has also seen a decrease. For 2017, Bangs has received $145,657, compared to last year’s year to date total at this same time of $147,458, a 1.22% decrease.

Countywide, Blanket has seen the highest increases on monthly and year to date allocations compared to this same time period of 2016. Blanket received a monthly allocation of $1934, compared to last year’s total during this same time period of $1726—a 12% increase. Year to date, Blanket has seen a 10.33% increase. Year to date totals show a 10.33% increase. Year to date for 2017, Blanket has received $25,788, compared to the 2016 total for this same time period of $23,374. Again, the monthly totals are a reflection of October sales.
