Local attorney attempts to flee during arrest, fights with deputy

According to a report by Cpl. Taylor Fletcher with the Brown County Sheriff’s Office, he and Deputy Scotty Burke made contact with William (Bill) Ruth at his mother’s home on County Road 233 January 11 to serve an arrest warrant. When Fletcher told Ruth he was under arrest, Fletcher reported that Ruth fled into the next room of the house and engaged Fletcher in a physical altercation. After deploying his taser, Ruth was eventually secured and arrested for the warrant. Additional charges include assault on a public servant, resisting and evading arrest.

In other incidents involving the sheriff’s office:
• Deputies, along with officers from the Early Police Department responded to a citizens dispute. Upon arrival, deputies were notified that a man had taken another man against his will to country road in Comanche County and advised him to not return. The alleged victim stated the man fired a round from his stainless steel revolver at his feet.
• Deputies responded to an assault between two men. Upon arrival, one of the men fled towards San Angelo. Deputies advised the man was armed and suicidal. An attempt to locate was issued.
