Early sees another month of positive sales tax allocation growth

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts $953.9 million in local sales tax allocations for February, 4.6 percent more than in February 2018.

Locally, Bangs received a monthly allotment of $15,293, a 3.35% decrease from this same period a year ago of $15,823. Year to date, Bangs has received $26,021 and last year received $26,929, a 3.37% decrease.

Blanket has seen another positive month, receiving a check for $3,040, a 13.54% increase over last year’s allotment during this same period of $2,677. Year to date, Blanket has received $5,783, a 16.95% increase over last year’s to-date total during this same period of $4,944.

The City of Brownwood received $566,399, a 3.55% decrease over last year’s monthly allotment during this same period one year ago of $587,254. Year to date, they have received $1,000,773, a .50 percent increase over last year’s total of $995,780.

The City of Early has once again seen a substantial jump in monthly allocations. Early received a monthly check of $113,167, a 21.97% increase over last year’s monthly payment during this period of $92,782. Year to date, Early has received $191,027, a 10.28% increase over last year’s to date total of $173,218.

These allocations are based on sales made in December by businesses that report tax monthly; October, November and December sales by quarterly filers; and 2018 sales by businesses that report tax annually.
