Kohler Co. Workforce Reduction at Brownwood Facility

Kohler Co. Statement

Kohler Co. is proceeding with a planned retirement of the company’s older conveyor cast process, along with two smaller casting processes, within its vitreous operations at our facility in Brownwood, Texas. Going forward, these products will be produced at existing Kohler potteries that have available capacity with more advanced and efficient manufacturing processes to make these products. No new jobs are being created as a direct result of this decision.

The decision affects 223 associates of the approximate 924 associates we employ at our Brownwood facility. The affected associates were provided 60 days’ notice on April 9 as required by the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act. We anticipate that the workforce reduction will begin in June. The Brownwood site’s plastics operations, as well as one-piece casting and tank production in vitreous operations, are not impacted and will continue to operate as normal.

Kohler’s business is performing strongly, and we continue to invest significantly across our U.S. manufacturing footprint, with more re-investment back into the company’s operations over the last three years than at any previous time in our history.
