County Commissioners Approve Acceptance of Grant from NRA

Brown County Commissioners met Monday morning.  The meeting lasted 10 minutes.  All Commissioners were present and County Judge, Dr. Paul Lilly, presided.  Commissioners took the following action:

  • The Burn Ban remains off at this time
  • Commissioners gave approval for Precinct 2 Commissioner, Joel Kelton, to hire a full-time road hand on a temporary basis for the summer months.  The wage is $14 hourly.
  • Commissioners approved a request from Sheriff Vance Hill to accept a grant of $4,436.80 from the National Rifle Association.  Sheriff Hill called this a “great help” as the money will be used toward the purchase of ammunition.  Sheriff Hill said his department spends about $10,000 annually on ammo.
  • Commissioners voted to accept the latest round of donations for the SWAT vehicle, $40.72, from t-shirt sales.
  • The next meeting will be held Monday, July 1.
