Brown County Sheriff’s Report

The Brown County Sheriff’s Department has responded to the following calls in recent days.

On Friday, October 9, Lt. Pete Bastardo responded to CR 234 in regards to found property.  A mini chopper motorcycle was reported on the side of the road.  The motorcycle was recovered and later released to Detective Ray Slayton, due to being a stolen item from Brownwood PD.

On Tuesday, October 13, at about 13:17 hours, Deputy Byron Langley arrived at FM 2632 in Brownwood in regards to a stolen vehicle.  Detective Langley spoke to a victim who stated someone had taken his vehicle without his consent.

On Thursday, October 8, at approximately 10:01 am, Deputy Scotty Burke met with a complainant at the Law Enforcement Center.  This was in reference to a scam report and investigation on CR 609.

On October 8, deputies were dispatched to an assisted living residence on CR 292 in regards to an assault.  One of the residents punched a care worker in the head and the worker wished to file charges.  MHMR was called to the scene and the resident was transported to a mental health hospital for treatment.  A report has been made.

On October 9, Deputy Andre Smoot was dispatched to an Illegal Dumping in the 1800 block of County Road 234.  He observed items left on the side of the road, obtained photographs and completed a report.

On October 9, Deputy Toby Mathis, while doing a follow up by phone with a female, learned of an assault that occurred in Lubbock County.  Information was gathered and a report was made.

On Friday, October 9, at about 19:35 hours, Brown County deputies and Brownwood Police officers served a parole warrant on a man on Temple Avenue.  He was located inside the residence.  Deputies located a clear glass smoking pipe containing a white substance and some fresh marijuana on a shelf next to where he was located.  The white substance tested positive for methamphetamine and the marijuana weighed 2.1 grams.  The man was arrested for the blue warrant plus two additional charges of State Jail Felony Possession of Controlled Substance PG1 and Class B Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana < 2oz.

On October 10, Deputy Andre Smoot was dispatched to a loose sheep call on County Road 105.  The sheep was later discovered pinned up on a property.  A contract cowboy later took possession of the sheep and released it to the Sheriff’s Office livestock pens.

On October 11, Deputy Toby Mathis responded to CR 618 for suspicious activity.  He spoke with a caller about an unknown male in the area.  No male was located and an information report was made.

On October 11, Deputy Toby Mathis spoke with a man by phone in regards to his vehicle being broken into and items taken on Cherokee Drive.  The man said he and his girlfriend arrived back in Stanton, Texas to discover his girlfriend’s purse was missing from the vehicle.  Information was gathered and a report was made.

On Monday, October 12, at approximately 14:24, Deputy Scotty Burke was dispatched to an address on CR 563.  This was in reference to a harassment and disorderly conduct report and investigation.
