Brown County Sheriff’s Report

The Brown County Sheriff’s Department responded to numerous calls the week of November 9-16.  Those are shown below.

  • On Tuesday, November 9, Deputy Joe Thomas was dispatched to a report of Trespassing. The complainant advised a suspect was on the property and had been previously issued a Criminal Trespass Warning for the property. A report was made.
  • On Wednesday, November 10, Deputy Andre Smoot with the Brown County Sheriff’s Office, responded to a suspicious vehicle call. The vehicle was located, and contact was made with a female subject, who was inside a residence. During the investigation, it was determined the female subject had lied about the whereabouts of a juvenile’s mother and why she was at that house. A second female, with a warrant, was located hiding inside the residence and arrested on that warrant. The first female was arrested for Hindering Apprehension.
  • On Wednesday, November 10 at around 4:27 p.m., Deputy Carlyle Gover arrived at FM 586 South in Brookesmith. This was in reference to missing items from the property. After further investigation, a report was made.
  • On Wednesday, November 10 at approximately 5:06 p.m., Deputy Nicolas A. Wood, was notified of a dog bite victim, which was located at the Hendrick Urgent Care Clinic (E. Commerce) in Brownwood. An investigation was conducted.
  • On Wednesday, November 10 at around 5:35 p.m. Deputy Carlyle Gover arrived at CR 344. This was in reference to a theft, which has been occurring at the residence for the past few months. After further investigation, a report was done.
  • On Wednesday, November 10, Deputy Toby Mathis, responded to a report of trespassing. Information was gathered and an individual was issued a criminal trespass warning.
  • On Wednesday, November 10, Deputy Toby Mathis, initiated a traffic stop on a red GMC pickup for several traffic violations in Blanket. The driver was placed in custody for Driving While Intoxicated after DWI investigation.
  • On Thursday, November 11, Deputy Andre Smoot with the Brown County Sheriff’s Office responded to a burglary, not in progress. Deputy Smoot arrived on scene and conducted an investigation and discovered a series of items had been taken, from a time frame of up to 1 month and at different times. Pertinent information was gathered and a report was completed for Burglary.
  • On Thursday, November 11, Deputy Saydie Bradley, responded to a criminal mischief call at CR 237. The mailbox at this residence was damaged. A report was made.
  • On Thursday, November 11, Deputy Toby Mathis, responded to a report of inmate-on-inmate assault. Information was gathered and a report was made for further investigation.
  • On Friday, November 12 at about 12:29 p.m. Deputy Byron Langley, arrived at  CR 605 in Brownwood, TX. This was in regards to a theft. Langley spoke to victim who stated a suspect had borrowed the vehicle on Tuesday (11-9-21) at about 1 p.m. and he has not returned the vehicle.
  • On Saturday, November 13, at approximately 9:58 a.m. Deputy Scotty Burke was dispatched to the Early One Source Clinic in Early, TX. This was in reference to an animal bite report and investigation.
  • On Saturday, November 13, at approximately 12:59 p.m., Deputy Scotty Burke was dispatched to W. U.S. 67 in Bangs, TX. This was in reference to the theft of a firearm report and investigation.
  • On Sunday, November 14, at approximately 10:22 a.m., Deputy Scotty Burke was dispatched to FM 3100 in Blanket, TX. This was in reference to a family dispute report and investigation.
  • On Sunday, November 14 at about 2:38 p.m. Deputy Byron Langley, arrived at Waterford Dr in Brownwood, TX. This was in regards to animal at large. Langley spoke to a victim who stated her neighbor’s dog is jumping the fence at Waterford Dr. and coming over to her property. The victim stated the dog is not aggressive, but does jump on her children and knock them down.
  • On Sunday, November 14, at approximately 4:34 p.m. Deputy Scotty Burke was dispatched to the local DPS office. This was in reference to a found firearm, which was found in the county.
  • On Monday, November 15 at approximately 4:52 p.m. Deputy Nicolas A. Wood, was notified of an elderly man who had been missing since approximately 1 p.m. on 11/15/2021. A search was conducted, and the man was found with minor injuries.
  • On Monday, November 15, Deputy Toby Mathis, responded to  Hammer Dr. for a report of disorderly conduct. Mathis arrived and determined it was not disorderly conduct, but an animal bite. Information was gathered and a report was made.
  • On Monday, November 15 at around 2322 hours, Deputy Carlyle Gover and Deputy Toby Mathis arrived at Brin Street. This was in reference to indecent exposure. After speaking to both parties, a male was taken into custody for Brown County warrants. A report was also made.
  • On Tuesday, November 16 at approximately 5:35 hours, Deputy Nicolas A. Wood, was dispatched to the Brownwood Market (Belle Plain Street) in reference to stolen property. An investigation was conducted.
