Two people died and one was injured Tuesday night in a two vehicle crash on FM 45, three miles south of Brownwood.

According to the Department of Public Safety report, the wreck happened at 8:36 pm.

Killed in the accident were Kelly Pierre Caldwell, 53, of Brownwood, and Michael Joe Wiser, 64, of Lorena, Texas.

Caldwell was driving a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup. Wiser was the driver of a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pickup.

Injured was a passenger in the Wiser pickup, 38 year-old Jessie Carlos Banuelos, of Lorena. He suffered serious incapacitating injuries.

The preliminary investigation reveals the Dodge Ram was towing a semi-trailer traveling north on Farm to Market Road 45. The Chevrolet Silverado was traveling south on Farm to Market Road 45. The Dodge veered left across the center dividing stripe into and across the southbound lane to the shoulder of the roadway. The Chevrolet tried to avoid the Dodge, drove into the southbound shoulder. The pickups struck head-on in the southbound shoulder.

The wreck was investigated by Trooper Zachariah R. Lundy of Coleman County and Trooper Troy Heath Erichsen of Comanche County.
