Gareth E. Howard, age 81, of May, passed away with his family by his side on Friday, November 8, 2024. A memorial service for Gareth will be held at a later date.

Gareth was born on July 27, 1943 to Bonnie Sue (Tippett) and Harvey G Howard in San Antonio. He was a member of the graduating class of 1961 from Sandia High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He attended the New Mexico School of Mining Technologies following high school. Gareth married the love of his life, Alice, on August 13, 1970 in Albuquerque. He attended the University of Albuquerque and gradated in the class of 1986 with a Bachelor’s Degree in business administration. Gareth worked for PNM Resources in Albuquerque for over 35 years. He started as a serviceman in and was a manager of D.O.T. compliance when he retired in 2004. Gareth was a faithful member of the May First Baptist Church and has served as a deacon since October of 2011. He enjoyed wood working, deer hunting, collecting antique scales and carnival glass, and reloading ammunition for his firearms.

Gareth is survived by his beloved wife on 54 years, Alice Howard; children, Richard D Howard of Bedford, Marilyn Howard and husband Carlos Martinez of Albuquerque, and Gareth Howard Jr. and wife Heather of Owasso, Oklahoma; 7 grandchildren, Richard K. Howard of North Richland Hills, Adam Howard of Fort Worth, Nathaniel Howard of Irving, Brad Howard of Fort Worth. Rachel Howard of Minden, Louisiana, Briana Howard of Stillwater, Oklahoma, and Xavier Howard of Owasso. He is also survived by 8 great grandchildren, brother, John R. Howard of May, and numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Jack R. Howard.
