The Brownwood Police Department lost one of its own Wednesday evening after a two-vehicle accident about one mile north of the Brownwood Regional Airport. Veteran officer, Bryan Greenrock, 42, was off-duty at the time of the accident. Texas Department of Public Safety officials said a woman was driving a moving truck when shot lost control on Hwy 183 S. The driver of the truck overcorrected and ended in the oncoming lane of traffic.
Greenrock attempted to avoid the collision, but was unsuccessful and his truck struck the side of the moving vehicle. Greenrock’s young son was in the truck and was transported to a local medical facility for what was reported to be minor injuries. The woman driving the truck was airlifted to an out-of-town hospital and was listed in serious condition.
Greenrock, who was born in Brownwood had been with the Brownwood Police Department since 2013 with previous stints with the Brown County Sheriff’s Office and the Coleman Police Department, according to BPD Chief Terry Nichols.
In a release from the Brownwood Police Department, the community was asked to “keep Officer Greenrock’s family and the department family in your thoughts and prayers.”
