Marvin Dozier

Marvin Dozier, age 88, died Friday, October 12, 2018, at his daughter’s home in Arlington. There will be a visitation on Wednesday, October 17, beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, Coleman. Funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Wednesday in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Richard Hetzel officiating. Interment will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery.

Marvin Thomas Dozier was born February 22, 1930 in Valera, Texas, a son of James Washington Dozier and Hattie Mae Casey Dozier. He attended elementary school in Valera and high school in Coleman, where he played football for the Coleman Bluecats, graduating with the Class of 1948. On October 14, 1949, he married Mary Ann “Prissy” Drake in Coleman and she preceded him in death on January 29, 1981. Marvin had a 37 year career with Halliburton in Snyder, Winters and Abilene, where he was the District Manager. While living in Abilene he was a member of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Following his retirement, he returned to Coleman in 1993 and lived here until moving in 2014 to be closer to his family.

Marvin was a member of First United Methodist Church in Coleman where he was a member of the Chancel Choir. He enjoyed attending the Men’s Downtown Sunday School Class, playing golf and fishing.

He is survived by two daughters, Amy White of Odessa and Laurie Crawford and husband Lee of Arlington; four grandchildren, Casey Crawford, Adam White, Andrew White, Kinsey Crawford; one great-granddaughter, Kaydence Crawford.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother, two sisters, and his son-in-law, Max White.
